Guidelines to assist with the process of preparing the documentation are in preparation.

In revision: Provisions under the amended Mining Act legislate specific content requirements for programs for environment protection and rehabilitation (PEPR). All existing MARPs will be deemed to be PEPRs.

MG3 Annual mining and rehabilitation compliance report (MARCR)

Most new leases granted will have a standard lease condition that requires the leaseholder to provide an annual report on operations carried out on the lease and compliance with the approved mining and rehabilitation program and lease conditions.

The guidelines outline the issues to be addressed, format of reports, content that must be included with guidance on and examples of operational compliance and monitoring reporting.

Part 1 provides information about landowner statutory rights and what may be expected in regards to proposed exploration and mining operations on (or near) property.

Part 2 provides information for explorers on the principles of effective engagement and consultation.

Describes the desired outcome for tailings and tailings storage facilities (TSF) management, provides a set of principles to be followed in achieving this outcome and an outline of the process that proponents of mining activities are to follow to ensure that environmental, social and economic risks associated with tailings and TSF management have been considered and will be appropriately controlled.

A joint publication of the Mineral Resources Division of DMITRE (formerly part of PIRSA) and the Environment Protection Authority South Australia (EPA).

MG9 Declaration of environmental factors (DEF)

An approved DEF may be required prior to conducting any on-ground exploration activities and prior to commencing the construction of major support facilities (e.g. camp sites, airstrips, intensive track networs) in areas deemed environmentally sensitive

These guidelines will help with the preparation of a DEF, providing a method of describing the proposal and addressing relevant environmental considerations.
