Consultation sessions

South Australia's future investment in key economic growth building projects will be discussed at consultation sessions in Port Pirie, Whyalla, Port Lincoln and Adeladie in March.

The consultation sessions will also provide an opportunity to give feedback, which will be used to help the State Government make the most appropriate decisions for the long-term benefit of South Australia.

Please register your details to attend one of these hour long sessions.

In 2011 RESIC engaged Parsons Brinckerhoff to undertake the 2011 Infrastructure Demand Study. The main objective was to highlight the future demands on the state's infrastructure by new and existing mineral and energy projects over the next 10 years and beyond.

The study has resulted in recommendations to the South Australian Government that will best position the state to benefit economically, socially and environmentally from the global demand for mineral and energy commodities. The recommendations aim to assist the development of mining alliances to progress collaborative infrastructure solutions to prevent unnecessary duplication or sub-optimal outcomes for the industry and the state.

The recommendations are as follows:

  • Recommendation 1
Facilitate the development of infrastructure corridors and utility hubs through a master planning process
  • Recommendation 2
Facilitate the development of three deep sea ports that can be supported by rail augmentation and road infrastructure
  • Recommendation 3
Facilitate the acceleration of the proposed 275KV electricity transmission augmentation in the Eyre Peninsula to meet mining industry needs
  • Recommendation 4
Undertake detailed mapping to identify ground water resources and potential extractable volumes at key identified areas to assist mining industry growth
  • Recommendation 5
Assist in promoting investment opportunities in resources infrastructure to the national and international market

These recommendations are of strategic importance and the government seeks the views of all stakeholders (community, industry, local government, industry bodies and government departments).

Your feedback will assist government to ensure recommendations are well considered and robust prior to implementation.
